The Gourmet Connoisseur
Someone with a discriminating palate will prefer a refined and well-planned menu. Taste, texture, presentation and ambience are just a few of the descriptive words that may be used when discussing gourmet food and the gourmet experience. There are people that wouldn't dare to eat anything but gourmet food. Gourmet food is as much about fine dining, as it is about a specific type of lifestyle.
No matter the class or lifestyle of an individual, it isn't difficult to decide what tastes good or bad. A gourmet connoisseur can tell the difference between high quality cut of meat or poor quality cut of meat. A gourmet connoisseur can tell the difference between a true vintage wine and store bought table wine. While many people can discern good and bad tasting food, the daily concern is typically more about health and sustenance. Those who live for gourmet food prefer the overall experience and not just a typical meal.
A gourmet connoisseur will look for a few key things when dining out. At a fine gourmet restaurant, the customer service must be impeccable. The chair must be pulled out for the customer. The water glass will always be full. The table will always be neat and every course will arrive in a timely manner. When each course arrives, not only will the food be immaculately presented, it must be accompanied by the correct wine with the correct glass. There should be dessert wine with dessert. There must be coffee at the end of the meal. The entire meal must be well presented, exquisite in a taste and an overall fine dining experience. Anything less ceases to actually be categorized as gourmet.
This site will discuss different aspects of what constitutes gourmet food products and services.
